💪 Gates 38157 DriveAlign Automatic Belt Drive Tensioner: Enhancing Efficiency and Performance Review

Too early to tell. The product wears out over time, so how long it lasts will tell the real story. I'm always nervous about products made in China.

Seems to be the quality of bums from the local parts store in every way. Much better price than available from any local source. Fast delivery. I will buy again.

cheap cast. The small piece that aligns the tensioner with the block broke off just 3 months after installation. Save your money and go to O'Reilly's or AutoZone where they at least have a guarantee if anything happens to it.

Don't waste your money. Gates purchased and installed. I put a new belt in and it kept rolling off the side of the pulley. Something was wrong. I removed the assembly and noticed that the Gates case is thicker than the OEM case. This is enough to reset the strap. Put my old tensioner back. I'd rather deal with a squeaky belt that's jammed.

Looked good and solid but something was wrong. I installed it thinking mine was defective. Horrible squeaking so I had to take it apart and check the alternator, idler pulley, belt, pump etc. Everything seemed fine so I put it back but it still squeaked. I installed the old tensioner and the noise was gone. I'm trying to figure out how to get a refund or replacement under warranty.

Excellent price, decent quality. . not as pretty as the factory. . . but let's face it, we put it on and never look back as long as the accessory works. It had more spring tension than the factory one that I removed. . . who was probably shot anyway. Just got up and walked. Does this last 250,000 miles like the factory? The time will show . . . but it fits, it's really good quality and holds the strap tight. Used this on a 96 Ram 2500 with a 5.9 Cummins with air conditioning.

Bought from A for a good price to replace the factory one on my Cummins coal compactor. The factory bearing had a bad pulley bearing, and instead of just replacing the pulley, I ended up with the entire assembly for not much more than six packs of Keystone. It takes a half-inch ride over the factory to clear this. Dayco needs 3/8. I saw where others claimed it was made in the land of the Chinese. The box says "Made in China" but the tensioner clearly says "Made in the country of the eaters"…

Should have listened to the reviews. I bought this in August as a spare to carry around with me on the road as I drive my truck and tow a trailer for my business. I finally needed this part and what do you know it's not done right just like others have said. Installed and immediately unhooked the strap from the rib and chewed up where it could no longer be used, not to mention the squeak caused by the failure. I use nothing but Gates belts, hoses and water pumps, but this tensioner is no good…
