Poor Durability - Fulfilled Warranty

I ordered this tool after looking at the overall ratings and comments from colleagues at Gearwrench. I was looking for a tool for tight spaces, bikes, etc. The 1/4" hex drive head literally fell apart in my hands the first time I tried manipulating the ratchet. I noticed stiff and not so smooth operation on both ends before contacting Gearwrench's parent company, replacements were dispatched within a week to ten (ten) days. The spare key was also stiff and not smooth. I lubricated both ends…

The best small tool set for everyday use.

Edited - 12/22/17 I first got this set when I was 18 from my dad for Christmas. I ran around the house looking for something to fix and tighten, just wanting to take every opportunity I got. For a few years I kept them in my kitchen tool box, alongside everyday tools in the garage, and in my truck's tool box. Wherever I went, this set was with me. After a divorce and some job changes, I ended up in the position of service staff. I looked for this set among my things in the boxes and couldn't…

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • I won't say anything

Nice little ratchet set.

I bought this kit to do some work on a computer case that has limited access to a few screws without having to remove the entire motherboard. It worked great! As others have noted, the ratchet was a bit dry when I first used it, but a drop of 3-in-1 oil fixed that easily. When I was recently visiting my father, he bought a new grill. There were a couple spots on the rust where they expected you to use that crappy little stamped steel wrench to install some fasteners. I had this key in my pocket

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
  • No instructions

Very handy little set well made

After looking at two similar sets at Lowe's I gave up and bought this gearwrench instead because the ratchet is a bit longer (5.1 inches from end to end) . end) and Taiwan vs China (although honestly the country of origin for these bits and heads and what they are used for doesn't really matter as far as quality/suitability goes). except for the smallest two hex bits, which require a slight correction at the ends of their tips (not a big deal, but it can make a difference on some fasteners)…

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Price to break a piggy bank

Great set if you have a tool that drives a ratchet

Gearwrench is a division of Apex Tool Group (US HQ) and typically produces quality tools that stay within the budget. Unfortunately, like a few others here, I encountered an incorrectly installed ratchet (and was unable to insert bits) when I first purchased this item. However, due to Revain's return policy, I immediately exchanged it as defective and the next set was perfect. This set is made in Taiwan for Apex. Has a lifetime guarantee. The tool itself is considered precision work and the…

The GearWrench MicroDriver Kit is so handy I needed another

The GearWrench MicroDriver Kit is a VERY handy tool kit. I love it so much I just got a second set so I can have one for my crate at home and one for my truck. A 5/16 inch 12 point box ends with wheels on opposite ends. The 5/16" end has 72 teeth and the 1/4" end has 60 teeth. ", so I wouldn't go to great lengths to unscrew a rusty bolt or whatever, but so far for me it's been perfectly capable of removing all the bolts and small nuts I've used it on. End 1 /4" fits standard 1/4" bits. Kit…

After looking at two similar sets in Lowe's store I threw them away and got this gearwrench instead because the ratchet is a bit longer (5.1 inches end to end ) and Taiwan v. China (although to be honest with these bits and sockets and what they are used for, country of origin doesn't really matter in terms of quality/suitability). The heads are sewn and processed quite discreetly. the two smallest hex bits, which need a bit of tweaking on the ends of their bits (no big deal, but it can make a…
