My kids loved this toy! My 3 year old has been writing for months, but once my 2 year old started playing with it, he quickly matched his big brother's previous level of writing! I love all the features, the friendly voice and how much my kids are learning from this toy. I also really appreciate the sound controls on this unit. It's not too loud to take with you on car trips. This item works as described but the design could be much better. The writing screen is very small compared to a large pencil. This makes it harder for beginners because you can't see what you're writing or the tip of a pencil as well. We also bought it because we thought it would be great for long car rides. Great idea for a product. My toddler can use upper and lower case letters, numbers, shapes and spelling. The device shows how each element is written line by line. The screen is very difficult to see, too dark. The setting only allows you to darken or lighten the background, but it's barely noticeable. Whenever a letter, number, or shape has a large curve (circle, zero, O, Q, etc.), the toy becomes very sensitive and will force you to start over if you don't do it accurately and quickly enough.
