Excellent educational toy for toddlers

My kids loved this toy! My 3 year old has been writing for months, but once my 2 year old started playing with it, he quickly matched his big brother's previous level of writing! I love all the features, the friendly voice and how much my kids are learning from this toy. I also really appreciate the sound controls on this unit. It's not too loud to take with you on car trips. So happy I bought this!

Preserve your child's sanity. Buy This

I ignored the negative reviews about how difficult it is for a child to actually use this device. I figured my son wasn't pressing down on the pen enough to trace the letters. I was wrong. I pressed this screen so hard I thought I would crack the screen. My son is 4 years old and he was so frustrated that I kept him for almost 2 weeks and got him to practice the letters tonight. Assume now that the sound is not working. Yes, I changed the batteries. And yes, I checked all the settings. Do…

Everything is OK. Bad design.

This item works as described but the design could be much better. The writing screen is very small compared to a large pencil. This makes it harder for beginners because you can't see what you're writing or the tip of a pencil as well. We also bought it because we thought it would be great for long car rides. BUT the screen is not backlit and the images are not very dark. So. If the lighting isn't perfect, it's also hard to see. Honestly, given the cost and design of this item, it's better to…

Great concept: learning systems

Great idea for a product. My toddler can use upper and lower case letters, numbers, shapes and spelling. The device shows how each element is written line by line. The screen is very difficult to see, too dark. The setting only allows you to darken or lighten the background, but it's barely noticeable. Whenever a letter, number, or shape has a large curve (circle, zero, O, Q, etc.), the toy becomes very sensitive and will force you to start over if you don't do it accurately and quickly enough.

  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Useless features

Terrible, disappointing and dark!

Terrible product! Terribly frustrating for me and my child who can't write. The screen doesn't pick up on the sensitivity of the pencil half the time and kept me re-writing the lines until they were "right," let alone my poor kid. Also, the screen is so ridiculously dim that it's practically useless unless you're under a sun lamp. Also, in freehand drawing mode, yell the word "Pencil!" every time you touch the screen with a pencil; So if you can't draw freely without picking up a pen, it's…

Do not buy! Headache!

When I bought it, everything seemed perfect. My son only learns numbers, letters etc. But when it arrived I noticed how small the notepad was. Disappointed with it. We turned it on and started playing with it. Then I saw how dark the screen was. Played with a limited settings menu and it did nothing. So I figured the batteries needed changing. I changed the batteries and that didn't help. The screen is nowhere near as bright as Revain's images. So unless you're in a very bright room and you're…

A fun educational toy that perfectly introduces shapes, letters and numbers.

Mr Pencil My 3 year old daughter's favorite toy is the Draw and Write. I wasn't sure how she would take it because she has a tablet but she really likes it and spends time playing with it. She likes to carry the drawing and writing toy by the handle, it's perfect for her small hands. She likes to trace shapes, letters and numbers. She can use the included stylus or her finger to trace. I love that this is an educational toy and I really think it helped her to recognize the letters. It's easy to

Nice concept in a bright lab Adult Beta Tested

Great device if - ONLY - it was easy to see without being in a very brightly lit room that didn't cast shadows, so a child the little one Touchpad with bulky Mr. Pencil (eyes get tired after 5-10 minutes without additional lighting). "Contrast" can be changed by +1 or -1, so don't expect anything (bad for the worse) from it. The pen is good but a bit clunky: the cartoonish face sticks out and prevents the child from holding the pen halfway correctly. Again, it's very odd that an education…
