Didn't live up to the rave reviews.

My apartment has no WLAN range. It's a long rectangular shape and the router should be at one end because that's where the internet line runs. I was hoping to increase the range of my previous ASUS RT-AC68U router (T-Mobile version). Several reviews mentioned that this router significantly improved the range in their home, so I was hoping I could do the same without making a large investment in buying a mesh system. After setting up this router, I tested the WiFi range throughout my apartment…

Works great for us - Router

I don't understand all the negative reviews on this router. A great router for the price. We've had this for almost 2 years with no problems. We have 30 devices connected to it (6 Ethernet, 24 Wi-Fi) and they are all reliable. We have 2800 square meters. ft., mostly on the 1st floor (only one room on the 2nd floor) and the WiFi connects seamlessly throughout the house. We connected one TV via Wi-Fi (AC 5GHz) and one via Ethernet. Both stream 4K videos with no issues. Our video intercom, wifi…

On a rubbish heap in my garage before using it for 6 months

To be honest with Linksys, I decided not to deal with their tech support and dropped this router after many problems. I bought it on sale on Black Friday 2018. I installed it in December because my 4 year old refurbished ASUS was becoming unreliable. This router seems good at first glance, and I have to say that the management interface is light years ahead of anything I've seen. However, what we really want is a powerful router, and I didn't get that. From the start I encountered range issues…

The signal strength is very good, but not outstanding.

I bought this WiFi router to replace my old (8 year old) EA6300 dual band WiFi router. Now that my family streams TV through PCs or Roku devices, I need something more reliable for streaming. I was also hoping for a significant increase in strength as this product is advertised for an area of 2000m². ft. The area of my house is less than 1300 square meters. ft. Signal strength, while slightly better, is far from what I was hoping for. This is likely due to the location of the router and the…

AVOID - CHARACTER for routers

I've been building and overclocking my own PCs for over 20 years. I've networked my house, fished out the walls, installed and tinkered my own patch panels, etc. Routers and SHOULD be easy to install, setup and configure. Not with this junk. If you have ANY network (mine is on multizone wifi) that has something a step up, this thing is going to be a bear and a beast to install. Your Linksys web setup is seriously buggy and over-complicated. Internet connection is not supported. seemed to get…

Not useful for parental controls, though.

This router's software sees devices of the same brand/type as one device, so it groups two or more devices under one device with multiple MAC addresses (damn!) and corresponding IP addresses Address from the address (see below. a photo). This becomes very problematic when you want to do parental controls. For example, if you have two or more smart TVs that are grouped under one TV, you can only parent/schedule that group, meaning all TVs will have the same schedule or lock time. Also, this…

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • I won't say anything

We've only had problems with this router. We've had it for about 8 months now and have to reset it almost every day. The 2.4GHz channel stops working no matter what we do. We renamed the channels once and it worked for less than a day and then again told us nothing can be associated with it. We connected directly with an ethernet cable and our ISP and modem are working fine, so we know it's a router. We have a house of only 1600 sqm. feet, and we can't access the internet at all from our…

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Not as good as it says

Completely false advertising for parental controls!

Parental controls on this router do not work at all! An app for controlling when each device has permission to access the internet looks nice but does absolutely nothing. We had set up a lockdown schedule for each kid's device, but then we realized our son was streaming a movie at the lockdown time. This prompted me to further investigate why he was able to access the internet during the 'locked' period and I found that the ban did not affect any of the devices. We were able to surf the web and
