There are STONES in food

Okay, when you use the term soil I'm not quite sure what you mean. Those are just stones. My quail literally choked. So I put them in my expensive food processor and it literally burned out the motor trying to grind up those giant rocks! I will never buy them again, I'm so pissed. I can't even give them to my adult chickens.

Pros
  • Heat treated for purity
Cons
  • Little things

Works for pH Feed

I have used this to stabilize the pH in my freshwater aquarium. I have a 36g tank. My pH went off the charts while cycling. Ph from my faucet is 7.2 and mine is 0kH. I added 1/4 cup of this to my filter in the tote bag. My pH has stayed at 6.8 since the water change. My pH is still very low (2 drops) but my pH is DEFINITELY more stable. When used in a freshwater aquarium, it will help raise the pH of your very acidic water. Know your goals and add VERY slowly and review them daily.

High quality calcium supplement

Our hens love it and have had no problems with thin-shelled eggs. Most of our eggs are large, so our busy chickens really need a great source of calcium. These are high quality, good size oyster shells. High level texture. The resealable bag helps keep them fresh. A lot in one bag. We have 110 chickens and usually enough for a week. We leave it in the bowl so they can feed at any time for free. I am very happy with the thickness of the shell and shell of our eggs. I'll probably add them to my…

Good for chicken. Big for quail

I'm breeding quail and it's too big for them but they seem to be getting some. Squid bones on the other hand are like treats, just buy them in bulk from another website (probably from Vietnam or similar places) compared to the commercial products sold here for pet parrots. Either way it works and would be great for a chicken. Well if I had chickens I would buy a 20 pound packet or more at the pet food store for the same price not 5 pounds. But as I have quail and they don't need sand, just…

Misleading product name

I think you should read the fine print and not just use the product name in bold. I've been looking for crushed oyster shells and this isn't it, no matter the name. It may contain an oyster shell, but it is not an oyster shell. My hens love shredded oyster shells and I was looking for this as there was just something in place in my grange that the hen didn't like or use. Turns out it's the same thing my chicken won't eat, they just scan it for the oyster shell left in the bin under that stuff…

  • Great source of calcium
Cons

Probably for bigger birds than quail

I bought these for quail to increase the amount of calcium needed for egg production. there is, but I still mix it in her food every day. The larger ones seem to stick to the bottom of the feeder, but their numbers vary from day to day. It's hard to tell what they eat and what they throw away. I tried grinding them with an electric coffee grinder but it didn't work. It's really hard. I add a little at each feeding, but unless I can find a grinder I doubt I'll buy it again. This caters to…
