Interface, instructions, attachment - everything is a bit disappointing

The light has 7 modes plus blocking, all accesses are made through not quite logical combinations of clicks and holding a button. The Cateye it replaced had a simple user interface that was easy to understand. The battery is only rated for an hour in the 900-lumen heading mode, so the designers made the less bright modes standard. It took me about 10 minutes of fiddling to install it. My old Cateye had a mount. with pull handle and off button, which I really liked. The instructions are a…

Better than 1100 Boost

I have an old model that has always worked fine. I needed another one and accidentally bought the 900 Boost and 1100 Boost at the same time. This gave me a chance to compare them (without taking them out of the box - I have to send one back). Their color rendering is slightly different (not suitable for blending in a light painting application). The 1100 has a slightly warmer color than the 900. This is not very important when cycling. Importantly, the 900 Boost has a built-in diffuser that…

Bait and Swap, DO NOT BUY

After a lot of research I settled on the NiteRider Lumina 900 and shopped for the best price. Revane referred me to this item which was $20 off at the time! Great, isn't it? nope It's not a Lumina 900, it's a Lumina 900 BOOST which has a much shorter runtime, but somehow the price is the same as the real Lumina 900? The NiteRider website doesn't even list the Boost version, so I have to conclude that they are capitalizing on the Lumina 900's popularity by selling this low-end product with…

Battery Life POOR - UPDATE - Still POOR

I've been using the NiteRider 700 for a number of years, mostly in the flashing daylight mode. Sometimes I drove early in the morning or at dusk when I had to keep the lights on all the time. Lately I've been driving more in the morning darkness and need constant low light, but my old unit only lasted 2-3 hours on one charge so it's time to replace it. I bought the NR 900 for a small amount. Boost, unlock, charge and use. After 2 rides of 1-1.5 hours each, one flash ride and one steady low, the

Great headlight, bright and durable!

This headlight is amazing! At low rpm it's a lot brighter than my previous headlight which was very good in COMPLETE darkness in the woods on the bike path. I think at the brightest setting you could use it to land a plane! The flash of daylight is bright enough to easily see its reflection from signs and markings far away in early evening light. The longest I've had in the light/flash was about three or three and a half hours and it was still going strong. These days I mostly drive with my…

The Lumina mount is poorly designed

The flashlight itself is fine but it was the mount that ultimately made me return this product. The mount that comes with the kit is poorly designed in my opinion. The main issue with the design (and this also applies to the optional clamp mount) is that the locking mechanism does not hold the light itself firmly to the mount. The back of the lamp vibrates on moderate road bumps and causes the entire lamp to rattle. I checked three times to make sure the cap was fully secured. Second, attaching

DOA. mine had a dreaded blinking red LED, battery not charging, light not coming on. general. Either the battery is dead or the circuit board has failed. My bet is the board. I have a 5 year old Lumina 600 that still works great, but NiteRider seems to have forgotten about quality control. I need another light but now I can choose another brand. Edit: Okay, I messed that up. I replaced this device with another NiteRider, the Lumina 1000 amp and saw my mistake. I had an older Lumina so when I…
