Check the alignment of the holes. He locks and then breaks the lock.

I just tried this lock. Having gathered all this, I turned the key. The key was stuck so I turned it to see where the friction points were. I turned the key a couple of times and then the key started turning without the firing pin moving. I looked into the locking mechanism and saw that the spring was oddly coiled. I suspect this is the problem. The 1/2 inch on the piece of metal that attaches behind the handle is slightly misaligned causing it to bind. I followed the PopnLock Youtube video for

Looks good, works good, installs as a day project.

This works really well and was fairly easy to install on my 2013 Honda Ridgeline which has a factory camera mounted in the tailgate handle. The instructions that came with it weren't the best, but the video was great and I used it throughout the install. All you have to do is follow the instructions to find the right drill bit and torex sizes. The locking mechanism is rusted; Now it is permanently unlocked.

When I first installed this lock it was exactly as expected and I was happy. After 1/2 year the spring in the latch started to jam, so it doesn't always "pop" into the latched position. After some strategic greasing, this issue was resolved but did not become trouble free. I now understand that the actual lock core that accepts the key has corroded to the point where a unique key profile for locking and unlocking is not needed. Anything that fits in the key slot can be used to turn the lock. So

This is a great lock, strong and durable but read the review.

This is a well built product that works great with the Honda Ridgeline. The main components of the lock are made of high-quality thick metal that will not break if the door is not dismantled. There are external plastic parts and if someone were to hit these parts with a hammer they could certainly destroy them, but it's unlikely they could open the door. Honestly, if someone were to bang my truck with a hammer, I'd rather have the external components snap off than remain intact and potentially…
