Luckily I was able to use the existing ones. I recommend using a small flathead screwdriver to gently pry the tension clips to remove the old ones (and the pre-installed hinges and brackets on the new ones if you don't need them). Bought this for my car. While I was working on the engine, the hood kept closing and I had to hold the hood with one hand and then work with the other hand. I finally found the broomstick, but one day it slipped and nearly knocked me out. As a result, I bought two of these supports for lifting the hood on the car.
