Sizes of Nuts, Bolts, Screws at a Great Price

This is a Plastic Gauge Only. Seems accurate and semi durable. Simply stored in the tool box. The biggest downside is that the sensor is unthreaded and you have to spend more time judging the size by touch. I couldn't justify the cost of a metal sensor and it works well. There are several brands for sale and they all appear to be made from the same factory mold and just have a different name.

Pros
  • Heavy Duty
Cons
  • Slightly Crumpled

It fits nut and bolt kits

I'm guessing it was some sort of promotional product (other sellers are selling the same thing with their company logo) so not too enthusiastic. by price. I paid about $9 for it, but it was supposed to be half that - it's just stamped plastic and probably costs less than 50 cents to make. It's great on thinner strands. Maybe the same stamping, only aluminum - I'd pay $10 for that!

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Only available in white

It's good for thread size

I bought it so I wouldn't make a mistake when sizing bolts/nuts. I had a screw that I wanted to replace with a longer one. With the gauge I just received none of the bolt diameter holes matched. With the help of a manometer, a magnifying glass, a bright light and 20 minutes, "guessing” the thread was still difficult. There was nothing in store for the bolt size I had found. It took me less than a minute to identify the bolt using a shop gauge (e.g. Revain's Bolt and Nut Gauge/Thread Tester…

Doesn't work properly on nut and bolt kits

I don't know how others have actually gotten this to work correctly. Figuring out the thread pitch seems impossible. I keep building it up in many ways and it still doesn't fit into any of them. I would agree with others who actually seem to know a lot more and say they buy more expensive varieties. It just doesn't work exactly. About the dimensions I have to guess what I wanted it for. It was a little cheaper to help me figure out what size new sofa legs to get. Now all I can do is guess, and…

Needs some work

I happened to have a #12 machine screw I wanted to check and noticed there was no #12 hole in the jig. Of course I could tell by exclusion that it's #12, but I think the sensor should include all the smaller sizes and skip the largest size, or just make the sensor a bit larger to fit. Have you ever used a 1" screw? Exactly. The threaded pressure gauge is also not convenient to use. First, the markings are difficult to read because they are not colored. Therefore, the labels must be drawn as…

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Normal fuzzy sensor

Look elsewhere for "universal" sensors of this kind, plastic or metal, don't waste your money. This is a sensor that is basically useless. Only used for 1/2" or larger nuts and bolts, but terrible at sizing threads for 1/4" or smaller bolts. The thread pitch is almost impossible to determine. compounded by the difficulty of determining whether the thread is small metric or American. Spend more and buy a "real" metal gauge, any size on a cord with real threads, male and female. As mentioned…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

Works very well for my needs as a homeowner!

Like many homeowners, I have a collection of drill bits, screws, bolts, etc., as well as wood dowels and other household items. This product is solidly built and has saved me from guessing size when going to the hardware store for parts or having to choose the right size drill, screw or bolt for the job. It hasn't amazed me to this day and works well enough that I bought a second one for my tool bag that I use when helping friends or family in their place. It's worth noting that I have similar…

I think it's ok if that's all you can afford.

For a tiny price, it's very hard to complain and take seriously, but it just made you want to get better. None of the holes or projections are threaded. Apparently to find the diameter you have to "put" the screw in different holes until you decide you hit the right one, and then when you're young and have really good eyesight you can match the threads . to the small indentations below to decide which thread you have. I'm assuming you "snap" them onto the tabs on the sides for the diameter of…
