Starter motor was correct as ordered product fitted as original equipment. Durability compared to OEM, time will tell. I had to wait a few days to get a part that may not be available to everyone but luckily I had a spare car until this one was fixed. The price was 1/3-1/2 the price of discount car dealerships which was great.

Bought a starter. Installed and went to work. Started well but didn't stall. Loud knocking. After removing the starter to check, he immediately cut off the teeth of the flywheel and the housing broke. This starter did me a lot of damage! Beware! Now I have to remove the gearbox to replace the flywheel. And before anyone says anything, I'm a certified mechanic with a lot of experience. Don't know if I got the lemon but don't risk it unless you want more work and money. Go OEM. Lesson learned…

Update 10/18/2021 - Already replaced but not sure if it is starter related or not. The teeth fell off my flywheel so I may have thrown it out while it was still fine, or maybe that contributed to my flywheel problem, or both, or neither. I first bought this for my 1997 Ford Ranger XLT with over 300,000 miles (eventually replaced the original starter). this first one is great. If you search here you'll know how good the Ford Ranger is in terms of part cost and ease of replacement.
