This bike rack will not fit 5 adult bikes. In fact I could only put 3 bikes on and had to tie them down to keep them from sliding off. This was frustrating because I wanted to take our family's bikes with me on the trip, but I was only able to take a few! What a waste! I had to tie down 3 bikes because the plastic holders slide when the car drives. Completely unsure. If you want to travel with 3 or more bikes, this bike rack is not for you. Absolute rubbish product. Cheap and inferior materials. I used it to transport 3 bikes in 2 hours. There are no instructions for proper assembly. This is my experience: Got the stand today and assembled it in about 10 minutes. But then I tried plugging it into my RV's 2-inch receiver. and it doesn't fit. This is not a receiver as any other 2" attachment will fit perfectly leaving room. I tried pounding it in with a rubber mallet, but after pushing it in a few inches, I dropped it and knocked it back out like I was afraid it would get stuck there forever. Not used yet. But pick it up. It wasn't that hard, although the list of contents in the box is far from descriptive and some of the actual product shipped is missing. The biggest problem I had was the hitch pin holes not matching the hitch pin holes. Additionally, the holes drilled in the bike rack are too small for the 5/8" pin that comes standard on a 2" square receiver. The metal and hardware are very durable, which is a good thing. We tested this bike rack with two bikes while we were in town a few miles from where we picked up our bikes. Everything seemed fine until we loaded up the third bike, the kids bike, and headed out of town for a family vacation. It was tight but I was able to fit three bikes with extra time and effort.
