Bought on the advice of a trainer. I was taught to regulate collar advancement and hold it high on the neck (preventing choking and attracting attention). It delivers. It's also smooth enough to reduce friction. Another point: make sure the leash is on the correct side of the buckle. It should follow the cutout, through the buckle (straight) to your hand. If it changes direction at the buckle, add friction (not good) and you just have to take it off, reverse it, and put it back on. Much luck…

I bought this leash for our second Collie pup because with their round heads they can easily slip out of most collars as long as the collar is not too tight. This sliding leash makes it easy to hold the leash tight enough to prevent it from slipping off the stop so it can't be over tightened making it safer and softer than a standard choke collar. As many have already written, real leather is of very high quality. The length and weight are perfect for my 100 lb dogo mix. (I weigh 130 pounds.) Not worth deducting a star for, but the tabs are only useful to me as a sort of visual aid. They (or their brass rivets) aren't thick enough for the loop to not tighten when I pull. My rescued English Foxhound pulls his neck out of traditional collars very well. Therefore, when I go for a walk, I use this leash and I feel much safer.
