X-Sense SD01 10-Year Battery Smoke Detector with Escape Light - UL 217 Compliant (Not Hardwired) Review

I removed a fire alarm with emergency light that was powered by 2 x 9 volt batteries and replaced it with this one. It's much smarter to use a battery powered alarm for ten years with an emergency light more sensitive than the old one. Also, my wife, who is 76, doesn't like it when I climb stairs. A 10 year battery could be a lifetime battery in my case.

This product was only installed for a month and started shutting down for no reason. Tried silencing and restarting it and the green light came on, thought the problem was fixed, but after a minute or two it went off again. This went on for a few more cycles until I finally had to disable it, rendering it permanently inoperable. Revain quickly returned the money. I will never bet my family's life on this product again.

Battery life is hard to tell as I just received and installed it but if it lasts as advertised it seems like a good device at a competitive price. The only problem I had was figuring out how to orient the mounting bracket so the LED was oriented the way I wanted it when the alarm was mounted to the bracket.
