Wifi No Good - Failed Product

I do not recommend this product. The Wi-Fi part has serious problems with connection dropouts - it stays online for a while and then stops working without warning. Ethernet continues to work, which clearly indicates problems with Wi-Fi. I would have sent it back to Revain but the packaging was lost. So I bought a Motorola/Arris and it works fine. Netgear support is also useless - they just tell me to keep "rebooting" the modem. There are many posts on the net about the same problem, so I'm no…

N450 Review - I have a Comcast, it works great

I got this cable modem/router hybrid because I was tired of paying Comcast's monthly rent. We expect. Yes, I would have saved in the end if this product hadn't let me down. Setup was easy. Plug and blow. People complain that they don't even come close to their service's top speed. And here's why: you're on the same channel as everyone around you! When I opened the web browser and the modem/router settings "username:admin. password:password" I saw that the default channel was set to channel 6…

Warning this is to sign you up

UPDATE 1/2/2017. Most of my reviews are positive. I love rewarding people who do good service and avoid trivia. But Netgear is a plagiarism and I think it's time to give a negative review. I have since discovered that Netgear has released a firmware update V3.01.06 which appears to be causing WiFi crashes intermittently. THIS IS ON THE NETGEAR WEB FORUM. I called tech support again tonight and got the same story but was told they don't have a manager to escalate the issue. The hardware warranty

Locks up all the time!

I bought this modem so Timewarner (now Spectrum) wouldn't charge me for monthly modem rental. It worked fine for the most part, but after a while I noticed my internet kept dropping out. To make it appear like it's powered on and flashing the appropriate lights when not actually broadcasting. This causes my phone data usage to skyrocket every month as it turns off and sometimes reconnects on its own and sometimes works after unplugging and reconnecting it (even then the problem sometimes…

Nice WiFi Docsis 3.0 Cable Modem Router

This item replaces the [ARRIS/Motorola] provided COMCAST router/gateway and eliminates xfinity's built-in public WiFi. WiFi xfinity effectively reduces the internet speed I pay for. Also, I don't have to pay $10 a month rent until December 2015 and $12 thereafter. It pays for itself in 9 months. The nice thing is I didn't have to call Comcast to get the equipment ready. I plugged in a Netgear cable modem, plugged my laptop into one of the LAN cable ports and it automatically opens the Comcast…

  • Something Different

I was extremely skeptical that this would work well or set up properly with Cox Communications. I had nothing but trouble getting my last cable modem to work years ago, and the router add-on almost never worked without constant resetting. I plugged in this cable modem, went to their online activation website (make sure you selected the CG3000D Netgear modem in the drop down list, CG3000Dv2 wasn't there), entered my account details and it said it would activate , which made me laugh. After 2…

Stable Wi-Fi shutdown, low speed, looks good

Purchased mid 2018. Less than 8 months later serious speed issues. Before I go any further, I would like to say that I have a degree in computers. That's not me, that's a WiFi modem/router. All the problems I've had with this device are related to WiFi. All wired computers get full speed paid for by the ISP. WiFi speed is slow no matter what settings are selected/enabled/disabled. I need to get 30 Mbps down / 8 Mbps. I'm currently getting no more than 5 up/2 down. Research shows that this is…

  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Requires socket

Second update for verification. Well, it was replaced while under warranty and now the replacement behaves like the original, but now it's out of warranty. Just like the first time, it just loses wireless connection for no apparent reason, and it loses internet connection regularly too. As before, a reboot restores functionality. The first worked fine for the first 6 months then it started going haywire, the new replacement worked fine for about the same amount before it started going haywire…

Fast Reliable Wi-Fi Router with Cable Modem

I love this router - it's fast and natively compatible with my Comcast service. I get over 90MB for download speed with WIFI and Comcast Blast service. It pays for itself in less than a year and you can set it up easily. I live in an area where the power goes out with some frequency and so far the unit has come back every time - it's been almost a year since I bought it. I would buy it again and highly recommend it.
