I wanted to love this monitor but it kills my eyes and I have trouble reading text in grayscale instead of black. The screen is very bright, which doesn't seem like a problem, but it is. I called the company and the technician instructed me how to change the settings. He said the text should be fine after reducing the brightness. Not so. This is a pretty good picture, nice, bright and clear. I have it for a temporary trip monitor, a "burner". For connections, you get old-school VGA or HDMI—no DVI, no DisplayPort/mini DP. VGA cable is included, but HDMI is NOT included; It's okay if you plan ahead. If you're using VGA, they include some sort of audio cable, although I haven't tried it. I'm really surprised at the difference between this monitor and my old Dell EPS desktop machine. I used the Dell HDMI output for this monitor. It's a lot sharper and a bit brighter than the 17" Dell I used to have and now use as my #2 monitor. And this after adjusting the brightness/contrast/etc. on the new monitor. This is my second ViewSonic monitor, the first was a 24 inch monitor. The difference over the past 5 years is striking when it comes to user support instructions. This model came with two custom tuning maps. One for 3" x 7 1/2" adaptation in 3 languages in VERY small print. Another collapsible 4" x 51/2" in 22 languages! I bought this to replace my 31.5 inch 1080p TV (model NS-32L450A11) which I used to use for watching and writing. With the default settings, the picture is significantly better, especially when displaying text. The 28" size fits me better; I would only consider going back to a larger size if the bottom edge of the screen can be a few inches from the table. I work in live music production and for the price this monitor really can't be beat. It has lived thousands of miles in a pelican case and starts every day with no problems. I use one hand, not the included base, so I can't comment on that. However, this thing does get some commentary from the Peanut gallery every show, and the overall picture quality is excellent. I bought two of these about 3 months ago a few days apart. These are pretty cool monitors. They have a really great viewable area with excellent image quality for the price. I installed them on a dual monitor stand connected to the table. The outer casing (chassis?) of the monitor looks good. However, BOTH my monitors have 1 dead pixel right in the middle. Great price for a pretty good big screen. The picture is sharp and clear for movies and some of the games I play. Plenty of display space to open and share multiple windows. I'll try to get the 2nd once I get a bigger table. :) As others have pointed out, the speakers aren't the best, but I hooked up my own speaker system to a subwoofer, so I don't use monitors.

This was to be the second monitor with the ViewSonic VA2702w that I bought in 2010 and it still looks and works great. The quality of the new monitor is in no way inferior to the old monitor. The display looks like you're looking at it through a thin film of slightly white plastic. Tried unsuccessfully to adjust it, still no comparison with the old monitor that is next to the same picture. I love the look and the display is fantastic! The only caveat is that the monitor stand base doesn't detach from the monitor as far as I can tell, myself and a few friends have tried this several times. The bottom of the stand is not attached to the stand mount and I can still mount the monitor to the dual monitor arm. Although it looks a bit odd that the base of the stand is still attached. Please note that you will want to mount the monitor on something other than the included stand.

Great monitor. I just wish I could remove the socket holder. I put it on my hand and the strap holder gets in the way at the bottom. I couldn't figure out how to adjust the contrast and brightness either.

The base was a bit difficult to remove (to fit a taller stand) but other than that it's a very good monitor for the price. I'm not sure if I'll be using it for graphic design, high quality photo or video editing, or gaming, but for business it's excellent.

This is a very good monitor, especially for the price. However, it is very difficult to change it. If you have experience calibrating a monitor, do this. When delivered, the picture quality was very poor. But when calibrated, it looks every bit as good as the expensive monitor it's sitting next to. If you're looking for a form monitor and don't include graphics, you're good to go. I recommend this monitor for power users who want to use it for graphics or photography.

Not the 4K resolution of your living room, but 1080 is great. If you're spoiled for your 4k you can play around with the settings a bit but get what you like. Get an HDMI switch and audio splitter, a Roku streaming stick, plug in a cable box in a second room, a wall-mounted Bluetooth speaker, and you pretty much have treadmill theatre. 4 stars because of the sound. Look at me, I apparently have a home gym now.

Connected, drivers loaded and everything works. Keep in mind that if you have an older computer, you may need to upgrade your graphics card. I have a Dell Inspiron 560 desktop computer that will not work with another monitor that I recently purchased. I bought an ASUS GeForce 210 1GB 64-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 low-profile graphics card off the shelf for $33 to fix this problem.

As an engineer for a telecom company, I needed something with a big screen to draw on. While not the best option, it works great for my application. Text is crisp, lines are thin and easy to see, drawing is much easier than on my 22" monitor. I would buy this again. My only problem is how the shipping was organized, it wasn't delivered almost 10 days after ordering and paying. I don't understand why it wasn't sent within 1 day of purchase.

This is a great monitor and the best deal if you are buying this monitor solely for gaming or viewing pictures and videos. If you use it to read text or work with an Excel spreadsheet, I wouldn't recommend it. The text is NOT presented clearly and does not strain the eyes when looking at the Excel sheet for a long time. At first I used the VGA cable that came with the monitor and the image was blurry; Then I switched to an HDMI cable and it just got better. IMHO the 1920 x 1080 resolution works
