This PETG is strong but needs better packaging

Packaging: The filament was wrapped in a silica gel bag but with much thinner shrink wrap than I did. I'm used to seeing with PLA, ABS and TPU filaments that I usually use. I made my first print with this filament within 20 minutes of opening the shrink wrap and noticed obvious signs of hydrolysis (molten filament bubbles and squirts rapidly from the hot end even when the extruder motor is not spinning). Adhesion: Have only used masking tape with this PETG so far and it works well. I usually…

Pros
  • With Amazon Basics 1 year limited warranty
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Flawless on $150 Printer

The review you've all been waiting for. After struggling with this filament for 24 hours, I achieved a flawless print on my $150 3D printer. As? Persistence. I spent 10 hours fiddling with my printer, cleaning debris coming out, replacing a clogged nozzle, and swapping out magnetic pads. But like any good 3D printer lover, I was determined to make it work. First, there are some key differences between PETG and PLA. The most important thing to note for this thread is that you need to set the bed

Pros
  • 3D Printer Filament (1.75mm diameter, Black; 1kg spool); fits most popular 3D printers (check spool size for compatibility)
Cons
  • Expensive

Poor quality threads, but usable nonetheless.

Tl;Dr: It works, but don't expect easy, great, or consistent printing. I don't think I will buy this again unless there are better yarns in stock. I've also listed my temperatures and settings below. Let's start with the packaging: the description says the thread comes in a resealable bag, which is correct. It comes in a vacuum plastic case that was so thin I could poke in it and break it. In fact, the plastic was so thin it had dozens of holes in it. PETG is not as prone to moisture absorption

Pros
  • Designed to reduce congestion
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
