AMP Research 74817 00A Extender BedXTender Review

I like the device so far. Very easy and simple to use. The installation guide wasn't that clear. And as another user said, make sure you have small hands. I had to ask the little hands of the woman behind the taillight part for help. Otherwise you risk dropping the nuts. Big hands = throwing nuts. Small hands = perfectly processed nuts. ;) I have a fitted sheet so make sure you account for the extra width or height.

I bought the AMP HD Max - 'U' shaped extension and it has more room than HD Sport 'V' extension (branded as OEM sold by GM at an inflated price). The AMP HD Max installs easily, but be careful not to drop the nuts when installing them in the taillight area. I have a Bakflip G2 rigid folding tarp with two rails mounted in the side panel of the truck. This AMP extension deletes these guides as it rotates, so no problem.

I like BedXtender now that it's installed. However, I doubt the instructions and the template that came with them for placing the brackets. My fiance and I installed it exactly as instructed and ended up with a bed extension that was too high. We relocated the brackets by trial fitting the entire unit and re-drilled the holes so the extension now sits flat on the tailgate. This bed extender is great. It's very well made and will definitely come in handy when you need a little extra length to lug something around. I highly recommend stuffing paper or a towel into the flashlight body when installing the locking nut, as there's a good chance you'll drop it if you have big hands. I bought this for a 2017 Chevy Colorado. The opening instructions are incomplete - it says you only need a 9/16 metal drill bit, but you later find out you need a very obscure 21/64 drill bit that you won't find at Home Depot or Lowes. I didn't want to drive it around town, so I used an 8.7mm bit from Home Depot, which is very close to the 21/64 8.334mm bit. It worked fine.
