This fixed my sram db5 mtb brakes!

I had problems with my Sram db5 brakes randomly locking up. I was riding trails and my brakes would start to drag, then get worse and eventually lock up where the tires didn't spin when I pushed the bike. After months of troubleshooting, I've found that the plastic piston I'm using is expanding and getting stuck in the brake housing. So if you buy this aluminum piston you will never have a brake problem again! It's also easy to replace, the hardest part was getting the snap ring out of my brake

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • A lot

Almost, but the diaphragm seems to be too long.

Installed in Guide RS. The metal part seems to be the same size, but when I bled the brakes I couldn't get fluid from the caliper to the lever and when I bled the lever it pulled out a wad of air when I applied the vacuum. Took the piston assembly out and found the first diaphragm seal was slightly larger. I think this blocks the hole in the reservoir so I can push fluid from the lever to the caliper but not the other way around and why when bleeding the lever air can get in because the hole is

Pros
  • This is great

  • Expensive

Cheap replacement pistons for your SRAM brakes

I put them in a db5 set that was removed from a custom fuse and is currently on my daughter's bike. Her brakes got stuck at school because the pistons got in the way of the bore and I didn't want to spend a lot of money to fix the brakes. This was the most economical option and better than buying factory kits in my opinion due to the cost and the metal piston instead of plastic. Easy to install and seems to run smoother than the old ones. Leave the bike in the sun to see what happens as theโ€ฆ

Take these pistons or take Shimano!

My Sram's R-rails are binding, causing the brakes to bind and the lever to feel awful when it's hot. By the time I got to the trail I was tired of using the water supply to cool the brake levers so I could ride safely. I've ordered them not to pay Sram another dollar for scrap parts that need to be recalled. I believe my Guide Rs are second generation and are still having issues. These pistons weren't quite the length of my factory piston so after dumping Sram I trim them to my original pistonโ€ฆ

SRAM GUIDES BRAKES STINK.

Tried to fix my trash chain brakes that were replaced under warranty. New "fixed" levers began to slow down on return. The installation went well. They were the same length as my original pistons. The first ride was bad. The levers didn't move. The brake was engaged or disengaged on the first touch of the bar. The second ride was worse. The rear brake locked up and I had to cool the master cylinder to release the brake. I tried pumping them up but couldn't force the fluid out of the caliper. Iโ€ฆ

  • Everything is fine!

Excellent Quality, Direct Fit

If you have SRAM Guide brakes and your piston has frozen, this is the solution. In case you didn't know, SRAM Guide brakes have one major advantage over other products. I swear by them because they have a wide pressure range that can be applied to braking performance. SRAM Guide brakes have a known defect. The original piston is made of plastic. When heated, it swells, causing the cobs to freeze. This happens to my brakes when the temperature is above 70 degrees Fahrenheit or when they are used

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Nothing here

Will not fit all brakes SRAM Guide R/RS

I've had problems with my front brake all summer slowly returning/sticking. After reading many threads online about this issue, I decided to buy this kit and fix it myself (I was tired of taking my bike to the store for warranty items). I started with the rear brake and as other reviews have mentioned, I found that the piston was too long for my brakes after I managed to get the locking ring out (which hurt a lot). Based on what other reviews have said I used a band saw to trim the front andโ€ฆ
