Installation Instructions

This is an OEM replacement for the original Ford gas cap. Make sure your cover is white inside where the thread is, if your original is black it won't fit.

Gor Get rid of my pear SERVICE

I lost my original gas cap about a year ago while on vacation. Bought a universal gas cap from NAPA auto parts. The universal lid worked fine but my SERVICE light stayed on. I ended up buying this cap (much cheaper than the FORD dealer wanted) and the SERVICE light went out after one tank of gas. Works perfectly.

Pros
  • Gas Cap
Cons
  • Empty

Not exactly what I ordered but works

Judging by the picture I didn't believe there was a lock on the lid which I didn't want. Otherwise it works fine. The "Check Engine Soon" light came on and I was told it was because the gas cap was not closing properly. I put on a new cap and the light didn't go out. I unplugged the red battery cable for a few hours while I was working, then plugged the cable back in and the warning light went off and hasn't come on this week.

Pros
  • Spare parts
Cons
  • Basically everything is fine but...

Worked great on my 2005 4 door 4WD Ford Explorer XLT.

Installs within 5 minutes. Disconnected the battery cables to reset the check engine light. Use a paper clip to secure the positive and negative cables to fully reset the computer to like-new for 2 hours. Driven 8 times, turned the car on and off, in 3 days and about 190 miles. The check engine light is still off so I'm guessing that fixed the problem. As a bonus, fuel economy increased by about 3 additional miles per gallon. I pray this will solve your problems and help me too. God bless you.
