This is an unnamed Chinese alternator that gives a good and stable 14 volt charge (unlike the alternator I replaced). The generator stand is cast aluminum and could be better but still works. The oil filler pipe is not screwed in with the crankcase ventilation hole pointing upwards. Consequently, I had to lengthen the vent hose and screw it to the VW fan shroud with a small vent filter. If this is not done or if the oil breather is not used, oil will drip onto the engine case.

This alternator never worked, it's broken and won't charge my battery, it took me some time to figure it out. I said it's a new alternator and it must be working but after it was checked by 2 different mechanics they showed me on the meter where it's not charging, it's too expensive to take it out and send for another one, er still in my car, it's a dune buggy I don't drive much, especially in winter I just charge the battery on my home charger and only drive during the day. Stand installed great. I recommend cleaning the coating on the inside of the filler tube threads with a Dremel and wire brush BEFORE installation. The threads have a roughly structured anodizing or coating that makes it impossible to screw the threads into the original oil filler parts. I also recommend you use a bartender's bottle opener for the oil fill nut as it fits the groove perfectly and is affordable at $12. Special Tool -20 is only good for one purpose. I gave 4 stars only because it is a kit, it had no instructions and no spacers for an alternative frame. Other than that, it works great. Pros: works great, works properly. Before the update, my turn signals are flashing rapidly because there isn't enough juice to start everything and my radio after my turn signals are fine and my lights stopped flashing up and down at idle. Great price for a base kit and arrived quickly as expected. Looks good, everything fits well, good oil filler threads. Should have bought it long ago, charges the battery and handles day and night power needs better than the old generator. The amp meter is now smooth and stable.
