Sizing help good for me

We just got this suit today. I am writing this review to help others with sizing. My 7 year old son is 55 lbs and 4 feet tall. I got him a size 6. He will be able to wear it next year too. Since I'm buying it to keep him warm, I probably should have gotten him the next size down, but I'm okay with the fit so far. If it's really not working to keep him warm, then I will consider the smaller size. Seems to be a thick quality material. Will update review after we get a chance to evaluate…

Pros
  • ‎20 x 17 x 2.2 inches
Cons
  • The adjustable collar can be uncomfortable for some kids

Snug in arms, big in legs. Good material. True to sz.

Fits my girls okay. They are 27months, 36,5" 27lbs.The arms are snug/fits them perfect right now, and they are tall, but tiny of their age.The legs are very large, doesn't fit them at all. They still have around 2-3" to grow in it, and therefore it will fit us all season. It's too cold in the pool right now 68F, and I thought it would be perfect! I would have bought the longer model instead, would I have thought about this sooner, before trying it on them.

Pros
  • ‎Black/Blue
Cons
  • The 2mm thickness may not be enough for colder water temperatures

Other than the fact that the size guideline is incorrect, the product itself works out fine. I initially purchased size 4 for my 4 yr old boy and size 6 for my 7 yr old girl according to the size guideline provided by the company. They were too tight and would rub against the neck. Later I returned size 4 and ordered size 8. (Painless return) Size 6 and 8 fit my boy and girl well enough with some room to grow.

Pros
  • Sports & Outdoors
Cons
  • The wetsuit doesn't provide as much warmth as thicker wetsuits

Great for keeping you child warm in the cold water

My 8 yr old son does summer swim team and usually the pool water is cold and my kid has no fat on his body. I have to say this has made the summer so much more pleasurable! When he takes it off you can actually feel his body is warm. As for sizing.the chart was good. I really did not think the size 6 would fit so I ordered a size 6 and a size 8. Well to my surprise the size 6 fit great on my tall thin kid. Love it so much I am saving the size 8 for next year.

Pros
  • TRUSTED BRAND: Hyperflex is a USA company with over 50 years of wetsuit experience. Focused on quality, durability, and providing unbeatable value we offer registered products a one year warranty. Your child will outgrow this suit before it wears out
Cons
  • The seam split on the lower back after just a few uses.

Nice wetsuit! Zipper failed in < 2 months of light usage

Flexible and thin neoprene, perfect to protect my son from cold water and UV!Sizing from Hyperflex appears correct to me: my son is 4'1" and 55 pounds, I ordered size 6. It fits nicely with some room to grow.Update: after less than 2 months of light usage (twice a week), the zipper is out of order (derailed, impossible to put it back on). My wife is going to sew velcro to allow the wetsuit to close so that my son can still use it. The wetsuit itself is not worn, only the zipper failed: if I…

Pros
  • Excellent quality
Cons
  • The sleeves were too tight and it was too loose in the butt/legs.

Keeps her warm - my new review

We’ve been using these for the past few years. Extends the time my daughter can enjoy the Maryland Atlantic Ocean, river tubing, and lake swimming that fills our summers and fin to the fall. I Forgot it last tubing trip and she spent time after the rapids shivering. It really does make the water more fun. She doesn’t like the high collar and the arms and leg openings are larger than they should be for a wet suit but she always asks for it once the shivering starts and it helps!

Pros
  • SUPERIOR FIT: A unisex design fits both boys and girls providing exceptional comfort and mobility. Sizes from 2 thru 16 correspond with age to help find an EZ fit. Ideal for pools, lakes and the ocean
Cons
  • The wetsuit may not be as flexible as some kids prefer

The wet suit has style and my son really likes it. He is turning 5 in the next couple of weeks and it's a perfect fit. The reason I am giving it 3 stars is the suit ripped around the neck on the first day (about a 1 inch tear). On the second outing the zipper broke. I would return the item but I think we can still make it work, and for the price it was a decent deal. If something else happens on the third outing I will send it back. I would recommend it, but would caution to be easy on the…

Pros
  • The small size of this wetsuit makes it perfect for kids who are just learning to swim or dive, providing them with extra buoyancy and warmth
Cons
  • The adjustable collar may not be useful for most kids

Great for 4 year old at beach

This really made the difference for four year old to enjoy the cool NC ocean temperatures in October.Fit well and easy to put on and take off.Looking forward to using in the swimming pool in the spring as well.

Pros
  • Diving & Snorkeling
Cons
  • The Kid's Shorty Wetsuit is more expensive than other wetsuits on the market

Sizing info good for me

So far so good! We've only used them once. Here's the sizes we used:Boy 1: 49" tall, 52 lb, wears the size 6. There's a little extra room in it.Boy 2: 42" tall, 36 lb, wears the size 4. It's not quite skintight (which is fine for him).

Pros
  • Whether your child is a seasoned swimmer or just learning to swim, the Kid's Shorty Wetsuit is sure to provide them with the comfort, warmth, and protection they need for a fun day in the water
Cons
  • The wetsuit may not be ideal for kids with larger or smaller than average heads

Very well built, very good in water

I followed the manufacturer's sizing guide, my little boy is a skinny five years old. He is close to highest limit for height for the size four and it fits him like a glove it couldn't be any better if it was custom made. He loves it , their is plenty of stretch in it to make it good for all water activities. The neck strap is very comfortable which makes him want to wear it. Overall we are really happy with it . It was internationally delivered as well and reached us within a week , which is…

Great wetsuit for the price

Very well made for the price point; the fit is on point. I would definitely recommend it; it is just as good as the bigger brands that cost twice as much, and it doesn't look dorky like some of those wetsuits with the silly fish, mermaid, or whatever stupid graphics. Your little surfer/wakeboarder/waterman will not look like a kook in this wetsuit. and for how fast kids grow, this is such a good price. The seams aren't taped, just sewn and glued, but it's a spring suit, not a winter/cold water…

Pros
  • ‎Hyperflex
Cons
  • The wetsuit may be difficult to clean and maintain

Good value good for me

Bought this for my daughter prior to a vacation in New Zealand where the water can by in the high 60s during the time we visited. She found it comfy and warm enough to stay in and out of the water for a couple hours even when there was cloud cover. No reason to spend huge bucks for a spring suit on a 6 year old when they will outgrow it quickly. Snag one these instead.

Pros
  • The Hyperflex Access 2mm Back-Zip Springsuit provides excellent protection against the harmful rays of the sun, with 50+ UPF protection
Cons
  • The wetsuit may not fit properly for kids with longer or shorter limbs

Fits my 3'9 ", 45 lb son

I have a small 6 year old who always gets cold during swim lessons. This has helped a lot. He doesn't turn blue anymore and shiver! I would say it runs small because my son is in the 15-20th percentile for his age. The legs are very loose but the length of the suit is perfect. Usually items that are size 6 are huge on him. If you have an average or large child you should order a size or two up.

Pros
  • The 2mm thickness of the neoprene provides just the right amount of warmth for your child, without being too bulky or restrictive
Cons
  • The wetsuit may not provide enough buoyancy for some kids

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Decent for the Price

I bought this for my son (just turned 8, 49”, 48 lbs) in a size 6. It is large, but he can still wear it. The photo is a size 6 hyperflex laying on top of an O’Neill size 10 (the shoulders are matched up). The O’Neill fit is good for a skinny kid. The Hyperflex is the same width in some spots, including the thighs and may be a better choice for a thicker kid. The Hyperflex material feels thinner than the 2mm O’Neill. For my thin child, I’d rather spend the same amount on a used size 6 O’Neill…

Pros
  • The wetsuit's 4-way stretch neoprene also ensures that it will not restrict your child's movements, making it perfect for water games and activities
Cons
  • The wetsuit may not provide enough coverage for kids with sensitive skin

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not a good fit, only fits chubby kids

This wetsuit will only fit shorter and chubbier kids. If you have a taller/thinner kid then this will be too big in the butt/legs area. You can actually even see this on the product picture how much loose it is on that boy. A wetsuit needs to fit tight in order to work as intended. Several reviews with pictures claiming that they're happy with the product are not realizing that the fit is actually not good. Other than that it's a good quality and price.

Pros
  • The flat-lock stitching also ensures that the wetsuit retains its shape and does not bunch up or sag over time
Cons
  • The wetsuit may not provide enough insulation for some kids

Hyperflex delivers a superior product

I bought this wetsuit for my son to use in our cold pool. He just loves it. Easy to put on and take off - even by himself - with the zipper strap that is attached in the back. Before buying, I recommend using the Hyperflex website to confirm size. I took his measurements and ordered a 6 and it fit perfectly. The wetsuit provides warmth to his core without any restrictions of mobility in the pool. The slight buoyancy of the suit also helps. This lightweight wetsuit is made of material that…

Pros
  • ‎Neoprene
Cons
  • The wetsuit may not be stylish enough for some kids

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent, especially for the money

My son and daughter both have these now, and for the price, you can't beat it. My son has like 1% bodyfat at age 5, so he doesn't have any of my "insulation" from chilly water. He was taking swim classes in a competition pool (hence, kept cooler), and he was hating it! I did a little research and found these suits with all the great for reviews, and "took the plunge" (pun intended). HE LOVES it, and then I got one for my daughter as well. They really work! Keeps the water in so…

Pros
  • ‎Mens
Cons
  • The sizing chart may not be accurate for all kids, leading to fitting issues

This is a well-made wetsuit, But make sure to .

This is a well-made wetsuit, But make sure to chose the size up (or even 2 sizes up). Size 4 didn't even come close to fitting our daughter, who is 3'11". I kept it for our 2 year old, who should grow into it within a year, and ordered a size 8.

Pros
  • The Hyperflex Access 2mm Back-Zip Springsuit is made with durable, high-quality materials, so you can rest assured that your child's wetsuit will last for many seasons
Cons
  • The wetsuit may not be suitable for kids with sensory issues

My son gets very cold during his swim lessons (partially from his medication) and he wasn't able to focus as well because he wanted to get out of the pool and get warm. I purchased the wetsuit to help insulate his body and keep him warmer while swimming. I pair it with a long sleeved rash guard (worn under the suit) during his lessons to help maximize the warmth. My husband explained to me that wetsuits work by circulating the water closer to your body, thus making the water stay warmer from…

Pros
  • The Kid's Shorty Wetsuit is made with 4-way stretch neoprene, which provides exceptional comfort and mobility for your child's water adventures
Cons
  • The wetsuit may not be ideal for kids with larger body types

Reminds our preschooler son of when he tried out surfing w his big teenage cousins. We've now had 2 of these size 4 and 6.Sizing: Our son has outgrown each of his suits well before he hits manufacturers recommended sizing. He's a tall 5y.o (going on 6) and he's already pushing out of the Size 6. He is 4' but has a long torso. We'll get him a size 8 unless we can someone who makes a 3mm half suit for kids at a reasonable price.Durability: Very solid. He gets plenty of use as we live in the…

Pros
  • The wetsuit's construction ensures that it will not slip or slide around, which can be especially important for young children who are still getting the hang of swimming
Cons
  • The wetsuit may not be suitable for kids with claustrophobia
