Quality bike tool and maintenance tool

I was replacing a new fork on an old bike and needed to install a sprocket on a new fork. Was waiting for other parts anyway so I bought this tool to do it. Worked great. Bought several other cheaper instruments and have been disappointed. Never disappointed with Park Tools.

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Park Quality - Cycling

This makes it easy to adjust the claw to the correct depth. Of course, you can also do this job with a small screwdriver and a hammer. This will bring your nut to the correct depth. Is it cheap for what it does? No, but is it worth it? Depends on how often you want to use it. For my purposes, a bike shop is a must.

  • Best in Niche

The easy way to properly install a claw nut

Simple, strong and effective. Simply attach the fork, screw the claw nut onto the tool and hammer it in. You don't really need instructions. Even if you start hammering it in unevenly, having the tool's shoulder completely flush with the top of the fork tube will properly set the nut to the correct depth.

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home

It does the job. for magazine tools

This tool is well suited for mounting claw nuts. After using it a few times, I think if I were to buy it again I'd switch to Park Tool's top-of-the-line Sprocket Setting Tool (TNS-4). If you only use it once every 10 years, the price difference (nearly double that of the TNS-4) might not be worth it. In any case, it worked well and my bike is happy again.

Pros
  • Noble design
Cons
  • Useless functions

A Tool You Don't Really Need

The Park Tool Threadless Nut Installation Tool is a solid piece of steel with a threaded extension. It is screwed into the "claw nut" and then inserted into the steering column. Then, using a hammer or similar tool, set the nut to the appropriate depth by hitting it two or three times. The need for this tool is debatable. The same result can be achieved with an appropriately sized screw.

  • So far so good

Shop Quality Sprocket Setting Tool

Sprocket Sets - not really that. When you need to install a star nut in a 1 1/8 steerer tube. This is the tool to use. It lasts longer than you - reliable professional quality tool. Identical to the 15 year old I had at work when I worked in a bike shop in the late '90s, except this one doesn't have a deburred head. because it's brand new and hasn't been hit with a hammer a thousand times. Make no mistake if you need to install a star nut.

Pros
  • GOLS Certified
Cons
  • You could have gone for a newer model

Thing works great! It's big and heavy, and it's threaded at the top for a good grip on the star nut. Before using this tool, I messed up the star nut by trying to drive it into the steerer tube with a screw, and no matter how careful I was, it still went in crooked. This tool is big and heavy and easy to hit. About 10 good taps are enough to get the torx nut at least 1/2 inch into the steerer tube. It would be nice if it came with instructions, but if it did it would probably cost more. Without
