Disappointed with building materials

Still slippery when wet. They say they can be put outside. There is no solid foundation at all. We didn't "stick" them to our steps when we wanted to remove them because of the potential damage. They move when you step on them, even the wind turns them over. We constantly place them in the right places. Not worth the price.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Not as thick as other pickaxes

Heavy, high quality, easy to assemble. And our older dog loves them!

I bought it to replace the anti-slip strips that did not give the adult foster dog adequate support. I put it on last night and it's already bouncing up and down the stairs. They are heavy and obviously of high quality. I have already recommended them to other rescuers.

Pros
  • A sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • I won't say anything

HOT in the sun - sore feet and paws

Love that they are so heavy they practically stay on my outdoor wooden steps! But I was shocked that on a normal warm day the rubber got EXTREMELY HOT around 80 degrees - too hot for me to walk barefoot which really worries me as the dogs walk up and down in the summer. This is an issue and they are non-refundable.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Heavy Duty Domestic Use Rug

These rugs are great and appear to be very durable for domestic use. Our stain was peeling off like paint in the extreme heat and rain, so we needed something to hide the mess and offer a maintenance-free solution. I couldn't use glue as my ladder was peeling so I used heavy duty nails. They're not perfect, but they'll definitely protect us and our stairs better than a stain.

They look good and sit well on the steps

I have these steps on the front steps of the house outside and they fit and look good. Before we got these steps, we had taped carpet onto the steps. When we tore off the carpet there was some glue left which is very difficult to remove. While these new treads fit well, they would fit much better if we could remove all of the remaining adhesive. We're working on that and trying to remove the glue. No luck so far.

  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Only available in black

Just what we needed

We installed the new Trex front steps and they are dangerously slippery in ice or wet conditions. This is a problem as our homeowners community includes people with very low vision, people with physical disabilities and an aging dog. We bought them a month ago and they work well in icy conditions, heavy enough to stand still most of the time. As the weather gets drier and warmer we will ask the tech to use some sort of silicone glue (? I think that's what he suggested) to attach them as they…

Carpet tape not working. Update: Found something that works

Rails would be nice if we could just get the nose to stay glued. Use carpet tape as suggested. The tip of our ladder is made of steel, the tape sticks to steel but not to rubber. I tried to heat the area and clamped it. Lasts a while, then the rubber just wanted to get back to its 90 degree flex after we rode it for a while. Now I'm studying glues, about which there are too many and many opinions! TO UPDATE. THE PRODUCT USED IS A HIGH PERFORMANCE NEOPRENE CONTACT ADHESIVE 3M #1357. Expensive at

Thick and heavy stair sections

I bought these for our very steep and curved wooden steps in our 150 year old house. Both my husband and I fell on the steps and our older bulldog mix really struggles with them. I had to cut them to fit our steps and it was pretty easy. They hold up well on stairs. They are thick and heavy. They are ugly, but their purpose is not beauty. The only negative comment I have is that they smell. Not sure what exactly the smell is - maybe like new tires? After 2+ months they smell a little less…

Pros
  • Ideal for a small house
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Good quality tread covers

Out of the box these tread covers were a little deeper than I needed but I found them fairly easy to cut with a regular box cutter and a straight edge. I am not giving 5 stars because the front of each cover was angled incorrectly, making it difficult to hold them flush to the stair nosing with double sided tape or "industrial strength" adhesive sealant. I installed them on the basement stairs to make them safer for my elderly mother. Instead, popping noses can present a tripping hazard. I…
