I replaced the metal version of this after seeing a kid cut his toe very badly. It's safer that way. Metal crunched against the threshold. It took me a little bit to find the right size. I put it on but forgot to cut where the door meets the frame. It holds up so well I had to take the door off its hinges. One is marked, I used a fine tooth hacksaw and box cutter of that size. Hit him with a rubber mallet and a piece of wood. Seals well and no more sharp metal corners!

Installation was fairly easy. Just took the old one off and put the new one on. It looks good, fits my door well, and seals tight so I don't have to worry about bugs or drafts. But I've had it for about 2 weeks now and it's starting to lose its grip. I had to put it back. I might have to nail it down so it doesn't fall all the way down. **Update**, it's been 12 days and it's no longer stuck to our door. We don't use the door very often so I'm really really disappointed.

After extensive sanding, painting and varnishing, I wasn't too keen on driving screws into my front door to hold the brush in place. by tensioning without screws in place. I bet the stickiness of the spar paint only helps the trim stay in place. Also, my door is exactly 36" wide and the MD strip width is exactly 36" so no trimming is needed. I've only been using it for a week but so far we're really impressed. We live in Florida and are very concerned about palmetto beetles. We couldn't figure out how they got into the house. This lower door seal is ideal for replacing old door seals that are no longer performing their function. I had a dust and air leak on both edges of a door with an old gasket. After replacing the old gasket with a new one, the door became stronger when closing and no longer leaks! went halfway. I had to make a small cut at the end of the gasket to fit the door frame. I got this because the mice got in under my garage door and under my front door. I bought 3: one for my pantry, one for the linen closet and one for the outside door that leads to the garage.
