Sometimes that's because I don't like wire taps, I like solder joints. I deviated from their instructions by running the wires along the door rail, then drilling a hole in the door rail and then attaching it to the frame rail at the back of the cab. Having installed this product and am quite skilled, not a mechanic but I do all my light repairs (brakes, oil, adjustments) it was time consuming not too difficult but I had a bit of trouble installing the tailgate. I hate writing bad reviews, but in late 2017 I installed a lock and cable in the trunk and applied power to it. It worked fine. It took a while because on June 18th I routed the wiring under the truck and connected it to the lock/unlock button on the door. The lock didn't work. The only thing about the instructions is that I would recommend disassembling the tailgate and placing it on a surface where you can still reach the tailgate to remove the screws.
