Not suitable; poor design

I just spent $4 on a zip tie because the key itself is completely useless. We just got a new meter from NW Natural and neither end fits the check valve. The small end is too small and the big end is too big. Since the slot in the key is not skewed, it is also not possible to place the key on the valve to turn it. The valve is vertical when closed and there is not enough vertical clearance to use the key. Measure your valve and simply buy a correct size wrench and attach it to the gauge.

You need it if you use natural gas!

This tool is designed to turn off the natural gas supply in emergencies such as fire, earthquake or gas line leaks in your home. It works on most household gas shut-off valves on the gas meter/pressure regulator. If you are unsure if it will fit, locate your gas meter and measure the shutoff valve plug. I think it's in the description. The zip tie is designed to hang this tool near an outside door so you can grab it quickly and then turn off the gas or hang it on the gauge itself when you are…

should be kept near the shut-off valve

This tool should be in every household and kept in a convenient place near the shut-off valves. The zip tie they give you to secure is basically useless, there are no instructions on how to use it and I can't attach it directly to the pipe. This requires a second tool. Why would I sue the tool to get the post tool? Although it costs more money, they need to develop a small, highly visible plastic mount or holster that can be attached to the wall with either pre-drilled holes or glue. It can be…

Good cheap lock key close by

Nothing more to say, it's just a good cheap key to stay close to the locks. Of course, a lot of people here complain that it doesn't fit their valves, maybe they should have measured it beforehand. They should be a little loose due to the design. Anyway, I angled the ends in a vise to make it a little more ergonomic. It works fine for me, but on our gas faucet, which is a bit tight, my wife just doesn't have the strength to use it. The water valve is turned slightly by both of us. Just note…
