Perfect shit. Low quality. Do not buy.

Terrible quality. Do not buy. I wish I had kept the packaging, would have gone straight back. I've had pretty good luck with other Tekton products so I was surprised at how poor the design and difficult to use of this product is. Cheap metal construction with a chrome finish. The mechanism for toggling between ratchet and release is a small stamped lever and spring that almost doesn't work and is sure to slow down. There is a sheet metal spring working against the coiled cable which I think…

UNSURE! NOT "Zelstal "

Revain only sells that so I don't blame them for not knowing. The original Chinese manufacturer fraudulently claims in both the promotional text and packaging that the device has "all gears and levers (pawls) made of steel." They're not made of steel! They are made of sintered die-cast zinc or zinc-aluminum alloy and are NOT SAFE at rated load! We tested them for steel content with high-strength neodymium magnets even before we unpacked the device. Every time I see "sprue marks" from the…

Needs lubrication before use

I eventually broke down and bought one of these for the jeep so if we ever get stuck on a trail alone we can get out on our own. Now I can't afford an electric winch. All reviews were correct in that this thing needs to be oiled/lubricated before being used. I struggled to pull the cord out of the box. After oiling it, pulling it all the way out, and cranking it back many times, it's finally where I want it and moves quite easily. I personally don't complain about the thumb stud as most…

it worked fine with no sign of any problems

As "Picard321" noted, the C-clamps that hold most of the carrier pins looked pretty dangerous, so I followed his advice. I received: 3 x 3/8" 2 x 7/16" grade 5 screws to replace the pins. I would deduct a star for that. Serious injury could result if one of these clips breaks and the pin comes loose under load. I used this to pull an old farm trailer out of the mud and bushes. It stood there for over 50 years, bushes and trees grew in and through it. I have no idea how much traction it takes to

Seems well done. on Wrenches

I've had a few breakdowns over the years, this is the heaviest I've ever had for its rating. Haven't used it yet, but I'll edit this review when I do. It looks good out of the box, the details are well finished. It comes with a nice solid jerk block. I plan to take it apart in places to lubricate it, as the drum is quite stiff and you should still lubricate the drum pin. The anchor hook and other end are well made, but are held in place by a C-clip pin, so I have no idea that end needs to be a…

Robust 1-care manual drive.

In general, I love this item. But I would like to give 4.9 stars. This is a well built device. Significantly more than in my previous community. BUT it has a ridiculous bug. The puller is held together with several strong bolts and nuts. It's good. But there are three pens held in place by small, almost useless plastic clips. I didn't realize it until I found one of the pins on the floor the first time I used it. How did it get there? clip found. MY GOD. It's just a thin piece of plastic. Put…

Disappointed: Hand tools

I rarely have to give a bad review, but I am very disappointed with this product. I received the goods quickly, this is not a problem. I decided to try the fallback (Tekton 5547) so I would be familiar and ready to use it properly should the opportunity arise when I might need it. Well, after about an hour or so, yes after following the instructions and even watching youtube videos to make sure I didn't miss a single step, we were unable to unwind the cable from the reel. Finally, we had to…

Pros

  • Ugly packaging

Received it yesterday and it will be sent back today. For the record, I'm in my 60's and a disabled vet with a spinal injury. I weigh 190 pounds and this joint was used to chop down a tree that fell onto another tree during a storm. I know how to use one of them. it's not exactly rocket science. The cable was pinched when I first opened the package. You wound it up badly and it got stuck between the spool and the spring metal cap on the bottom. I had to use multiple screwdrivers to loosen it. I
