Maybe I'm just on the boat

The original kit that came with MotorGuide that I installed in the 1990's lasted quite a while. Then they fell into disrepair and the engine mount began to detach from the deck, especially when cornering. I bought a new set and replaced them, uh-uh. They broke on the next fishing trip. Bought another set. The same thing. Maybe I overwhelmed her. I solved the problem by cutting a long rubber rod, leaving just enough to fit the mounting holes in the deck, leaving the rectangular pieces for the…

You may need 4 " screws instead of the shorter screws that are included.

I replaced my Minn Kota 35 with a new Minn Kota 55 trolling motor (the old mount lasted 26 years but the old motor died.) I switched from 4 mounts to 6 based on feedback from other customers and the fact that I switched to a more powerful device. You installed it normally, it seems pretty tight but time will tell. The rubber shafts are slightly longer than the originals, and Minn Kota opted for a 2" base instead of a 3/16" steel plate, so the mounting bolts included with the isolator weren't…

Recommended for every setup!

Excellent product! There was an old MotorGuide that failed on my '88 Bayliner and recently replaced it with a Minn Kota Maxxum. I read some reviews that said they fell apart or didn't hold the trolling motor in place properly. The MotorGuide originally had the same fasteners and never gave me any problems, but unfortunately none of the 1988 hole patterns matched so I had to drill new holes. To be on the safe side I used 4 of these and drilled smaller holes for the other 2 bolts and made a…

They're working great so far.

. This rubber isolator was suggested. Installation is easy and works well. I use my boat on the river and lake when there is no wind. Read a few stories of them getting naked and I can see why. They are rubber after all and I've decided to buy two packs in case they wear out. For a beginner boater they work great so far. I expect to replace them in the future, update (7/16018). Pulled the boat out a few times and throttled to maximum (55lb propulsion), no problem so far. The instruction manual…

Unreliable or strong hold and strips when installed

So I only use it to attach a light bar to the bow of my boat. I'm glad it came with 4 packs because the first one I installed simply screwed the inner nut straight out of the rubber plug. I pulled it out and much more carefully hand tightened the replacement and installed it on the other side. Unfortunately, the rubber doesn't have enough "bulge" and it popped out of the aluminum hole (the hole was snug on the rubber before tightening, so not too tight) and now one side of my lightbar is…

Easy and very safe on the boat deck!

I took two packs because I was able to deliver six instead of four. They were very easy to install. I have a pontoon that prevents easy access to the bottom of the enclosed deck. Installed correctly, they hold up much better than you may have seen from other reviews. I just don't trust them. I tripped over about four sandbars trying to steer my big fishing pontoon into the narrow "honey hole" and those anchorages didn't even flinch. The trolling motor worked fine and now I have all the evidence

Is there a reward for failure?

For mounting a bow mounted trolling motor. Drilled 1/2 holes, put in 1/2" holes, attached the trolling mount, added screws, tightened snugly to feel solid, and went fishing. Just a 55# trolling motor for fishing in Grand Traverse Bay. Waves were 2-3' with a light breeze. At the end of the day, the entire device switched at full power when switched on. Don't worry, I just re-tightened it and everything was tight again. Conditions on the next voyage were similar, and the same thing happened…

Not Recommended Best in Sport

I used these to install my new Minn Kota Ulterra trolling motor with 80lbs of thrust. They are said to be designed for engines up to 80 lbs. They came loose and started to stretch on first use. I tightened them and they lasted the rest of the trip. I took them with me on my second trip. As I was launching my boat, the front of the motor mount hit the trailer's front roller and nearly ripped it out. I had to stop and reattach them before I could fish. The action of the trolling motor alone…

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Frequency

These are actually very nice and easy-to-use brackets. I highly recommend it, but anyone ordering should order a second set as a spare. The design of these won't last forever. In fact, my first kit just fell into the water. I'm glad I had a second set on the boat and a Phillips head screwdriver in the tool box on the boat. It took 15 minutes to swap out the new kit on the water. Now to the problem. The mounts are designed to isolate shock and torque from the mounting holes through the…
